16
Introduction

17
Notes from a meeting held on 2024-04-16 with Miranda Girdlestone
18 (Meeting House Manager, MG hereafter), taking the lead and Henry Thompson (Convenor, Meeting House
19 Management Committee, HST hereafter), taking (most of) these notes. The section titles and questions which follow are taken verbatim from the <emph>Employment
20 Review Conversation</emph> shared with Ellie in advance of the meeting.

23
Nature of the job

24
Does your job description accurately reflect the nature of your
25 duties?

26
Yes.

27
What have you done in your role that has made you feel proud?

28
Dealt with challenging clients [e.g. xxxx]. Taken on more
29 responsibility. Taken initiative:, e.g. Daily and weekly cleaning tasks,
30 book shelf.

31
Was there anything that felt less than successful when you attempted
32 it? And what did you do to improve the situation?

33
Getting started with emails was hard, couldn’t really figure out what
34 was in them. Now that Majk and I have figured out a system for managing
35 things, it’s much better, and the new system for leaving notes usng
36 TeamUp for MG has improved things as well.

37
What changes have you implemented and how do you think they went/were
38 received?

39
The daily cleaning tasks: the sheet is working well. Keeping the
40 Facebook page current is working, can’t tell if it’s working, but it’s
41 not out-of-date. Scheduling some things will help. Bookshelf looked
42 good, contacted the Lighthouse Books, sounded good on the ’phone, but
43 still no emails.

44
New biscuits. Better, and less food waste.

45

47
Obstacles and support

48
What extra support would you like from me as your manager?

49
One or two cases where I wasn’t sure if it was my job or not, and
50 then you asked if I’d done it, for example lunches, [which seems to have
51 been lost somewhere between MG and MS and EG].

52
MG to clarify with MS and EG that anything about a booking
53 that one of them is working on is that person's job to initiate and/or follow up

54
Have you encountered any particular difficulties where you would have
55 appreciated more support?

56
See above.

57
When working alone in the evenings/weekends, twice disturbances
58 outside the Meeting House, involving drunken and/or homeless men, with
59 potential interactions with clients, and I didn’t know what to do.

60
EG to read Lone-working Policy, MG to ensure personal alarm
61 is activated.

62
[The recommendation to call 111 is in the LWP document]

63
Can you say why you didn’t ask for support at the time?

64

65

66
Quaker Ethos

67
Do you think the Quaker ethos is nurtured in your work and your
68 workplace?

69
Yes. Sustainability is a priority, as is good interaction style.

70

71

72
Working relationships

73
How would you describe the relationships you have built with your
74 colleagues and users of the building?

75
It’s good.

76
How do you see your role within the team now and how would you like
77 it to grow?

78
Taken up a good position in the team, taking on more bit-by-bit as go
79 along, which is nice.

80

81

82
Work environment

83
What do you like or dislike about your work environment?

84
Dislike how cold it is, everything else is good.

85
Do you have any suggestions for improving it?

86
No.

87

88

89
Training and development needs

90
What training have you undergone during the year?

91
Fire, First Aid, Food Hygience, Manual Handling

92
Are there any training opportunities you would like to pursue? Or any
93 skills you would like to develop?

94
More Social Media experience, more like practice on my own than
95 training.

96

97

98
Overall

99
If you could change anything about your role or the way the team
100 operates, what would it be?

101
Just one thing, would be clarifying how the division of labour works
102 as I’m in and out of the office.

103
[HST: Yes!]
