1605 if it meshes with your compiler. Basically, GCC has a nice feature

1606 where you can declare a function `extern inline' and stick it in
|

1607 a header file. This will cause the inline declaration to be
|
|

1608 used if the function can be inlined, and an external reference to
|
|
|
1609 be generated otherwise. Then, you define the function just
|
|
|
1610 `inline' in one single file (inline.c). This is superior to the
|
|
|
1611 method of declaring all inline functions as `static inline', which
|
|

1612 could leave a separate copy of each function in lots of source
|

1613 files. However, I'm not sure if non-GCC compilers support this.
