Project updates

CVenues

Ongoing back-and-forth with Hartley Kemp (HK) of CV getting details
of the building to him, in preparation for the full formal License
Agreement. Some niggles to still be sorted including Emergency Lighting
and weight bearing capacity of the Meeting Room, cleaning costs. HK will
be visiting on Monday 22 April to attempt to reach final agreement on a
draft to send to Trustees.

CVenues will be in from 14 July – 31 August (seven weeks)

See option 2 in
for the planned Meeting Room
layout. Scrim across the room just E. of the main door on Sundays.

We have the Meeting Room, Kitchen and access from 0900–1400.

Wednesday Meeting will be in Johnstone Terrace Wildlife Garden / the
Palm House. Childrens’ Meeting have been offered one day there if they
would like.

HST [was planning to] brief Central Edinburgh at Local Meeting for Church
Affairs on 12 May. Area Meeting is actually earlier, on 7 May, so

Include a briefing about this in his report to AM.

Check with City of Edinburgh about a) the validity span
of an EICR; b) the need for emergency lighting to be checked to a
standard.

Hideout Cafe

Hideout Cafe have not replied to our most recent proposal. We are
going forward on the assumption that they are no longer interested.
Their main interest was always in the full refit/more room/plumbing etc.
version.

We have considered the possibility of looking for someone else to do
just-a-pop-up, but decided enough work is pending, and we may get the
information we wanted from a trial run if CVenues try something.

Hartley Kemp has been informed. We won’t prejudge the possibility of
him doing something along similar lines until we’ve talked with him on
Monday.

Lighting

Majk Stokes managed gathering quotes,
. MG and MS judged the Gunn and
Alexanders quote to be appropriate considered. Additional complexity
with Mark Kisby’s involvement to manage the physical interaction of
their hanging and the lighting. There is also the question of the
quality of microphone system and whether we should do something about
this.

MG will call Mark K to come and explore the lighting/microphone
interaction and suggest and quote for a solution, possibly on 22 April
if he can make.

We should consider also inviting Mark Kisby to attend at some event
where we suspect the problems would manifest and observe.

We agree to ask Trustee’s approval for asking Keith Gunn to go ahead
per their quote.

Carpets See attachment 2

Two quotes for Carpet or Carpet Tile, without floor preparation,
.

At least 10-year wear.

Carpet tile has the advantage of allowing square-by-square
replacement in case of damage or stain.

‘Stain-free’ has strong smell at first, possible health and
environmental issues.

MG to try to get a look at an existing installation of tile with some
years of use wrt possible lifting at the edges under wear.

ALthough vinyl is cheaper as such, the preparatino is much more
substantial, so roughly double the cost for the Foyer (6k vs. 3k).

We agree to return to this once we get the information we need to
choose, both wrt tile vs. carpet and with respect to the Foyer.

Period products

Quotes from three outfits,
. MG recommends Hey Girls, who also have the
contract for the City of Edinburgh. RF says they are used in Augustine United.

We agreed that we should appoint Hey Girls for
installations in all toilets.

Contract with Hey Girls.

Flat 3F2 at 6 Upper Bow

HST suggested exploring offering 3F2 to HK for his staff.

1) Check with City re Short
term lets regulation 2) Check with Clan Gordon (CG) about whether they would
manage.

If letting to HK not viable, then we will need to ask CG to get quotes for
the repair/upgrade options they
recommend.
