   <p>As ever, Catharine and I hope you have your share of repose and reflection, peace and joy, during
this holiday season, trying to look forward with hope to 2022.</p>

August, the high point of a year with little to celebrate, and Catharine as
always makes a wreath for our front door in Edinburgh:</p>
